On Wednesday 2nd May, The Waterford institute of Technology (WIT) hosted their annual ‘WIT Research Day’ to showcase the various research centres within the Institute including the Telecommunications Software & Systems Group (TSSG). The day-long event included postgraduate student poster displays, demonstrations and presentations.
WIT Research day provides an insight into the research and work carried out by postgraduate students in the different research departments at WIT as well as allowing them to share and discuss their work with peers and prospective postgraduate students. WIT research day also provides an opportunity for postgraduate research students to learn more about the kinds of areas other postgraduate students in WIT are researching.
TSSG were not only present at the Research day but with the help of the Electric Ireland were able to secure a ESB electricity car for display at the event. The TSSG are currently working with the ESB as part of the FINSENY project.
The Research itself day consisted of both oral presentations and poster presentations with the poster presentations split into four thematic areas; Environment, Health and Life Science, Materials and Energy, New Information Technologies and Society, Culture, Economy, Business & Enterprise.
Congratulations to Brian Meskill from TSSG on winning first place for his poster on “Server Selection and Admission Control for IP-based Video on Demand Using Available Bandwidth Estimation”
