Leigh Griffin, PhD Student
Personal Summary
Leigh is a PhD student investigating Group Formation and Management within Social Networks. People and Services operating in a digital group environment bring about requirements and behavior with a scalability profile not envisioned by modern architectures. Leigh’s body of work investigates how to structurally manage groups and what impact the group formation mechanisms have on the scalability and ultimately success of the group.
Current Activities / Research Interests
Node.js and Javascript server side is a current topic of interest within my work. Programming languages that are derivatives of Java such as Groovy are also used to programatically tackle some of the more complex aspects of managing groups. Services such as video and voice as well as location based services such as checkins within a group context are also under investigation. Changes and advances in current social networks such Google+ circles, Facebook Groups and BuddyCloud are also of interest.
