The goal of this project is to develop an instant messaging-based service delivery platform. To create an abstract API for developers of instant messaging type applications. To create an IMIS Server for the simple creation and deployment of IM based services and IM services proxies that integrate with new and existing services over heterogeneous communications technologies. To extend the features of IM services by extending the functionality to include Real-time Hypermedia Service (RHymeS) capabilities.

The outputs of this project will be:

• An abstract API for developing instant messaging applications (IMAPI) and an set of implemented protocols (MSNP, XMPP) to realise the API.


• IM access and control of hardware devices (MAPS)
  Instant Messaging Information Server (IMIS) for simple creation of IM based services.


• Real-time Hypermedia Services (RHymeS) to extend the feature set of IM services. Accompanied by RHymeS browser plug-ins developed for some of the most popular browsers.
