The NITOURA II project (Nov 1999 - Apr 2001) implemented a series web-based portals for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in peripheral European regions in Ireland, France, Germany, Sweden and Portugal. The Irish portal was called ConnectKey.com and had 200 registered SMEs during the period of the project. The portal allowed companies to maintain their own template-based website via a simple web interface, and provided these SMEs with a series of virtual office tools, essentially a series of web-based interfaces providing secure email, calendar, appointments, and a contacts list.
