WMA
IP-based multimedia communications and applications in 3G wireless.
This project is a collaboration between WIT (TSSG), Cork IT and
Motorola, and is jointly funded by Motorola and Enterprise Ireland
under the Innovation Partnerships programme.Technical specifications and standards are currently being set for the next generation of mobile telecommunications networks, known as 3G. The main objective of the project is to attempt to develop diverse multimedia software applications for deployment on these networks. This work will allow some of underlying facilities provided by the network to be investigated. In particular, the project will focus on use of the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). The results will be used to contribute to the ongoing 3G standardisation process.
