PhD Studentships

OPAALS(Open Philosophies for Associative Autopoietic Digital Ecosystems)

Duration: 3 years.

There are two studentships available and they consist of a bursary of 16,800 (plus fees) per year for three years by the project of OPAALS (Open Philosophies for Associative Autopoietic Digital Ecosystems

The successful applicant will develop the novel algorithms, approaches and framework for knowledge sharing, data mining, distributed accountability, as well as trust and identity management. The work will also include development of the Grid-based or P2P-based system of data mining for Digital Ecosystems.


The successful candidates will:

  • Possess a Master degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Have strong programming skills of Java  and C++, and experience of implementing numerical algorithms with Java
  • Have a good understanding or some experience in the following areas: database, statistics, machine learning, or data mining.
  • With good written and spoken English, and ideally some existing publications

The positions are funded by the project of EU IST Network of Excellence "OPAALS"
