VIPS
VIPS will deliver a hosted ASP model PBX system which can be configured using an internet browser. Using Asterisk as the PBX engine the project will enable users of the system access enterprise class features all at a relatively low monthly cost.
It will provide usable control of the following areas for subscribed companies:
• Staff/Extensions
• Hold Music
• Meeting Rooms
• Call Details/Billing
• Phone Menu
• Opening Time/Closing Time Events
This proof of concept is being developed within TSSG initially, in conjunction with an externally interviewed company for additional requirements gathering.
The proof of concept is in negotiations with Enterprise Ireland for funding.
The project is running from February 2007 to January 2008.
For further information, contact Niall Clancy on 051-306141 or email nclancy@tssg.org
The VIPS project scope initially deals with providing a feature set to each company subscribed as follows:
• Staff: The ability to manage the extensions on a person by person basis within a company in an intuitive manner.
• Hold Music: Many companies have tailored hold music with advertising mixed in.
• Meeting Rooms: Dynamic conferencing facilities for users within and external to the company.
• Call Details: While the staff features manage company policy on calls, the call details will allow auditing of call records after the fact. It will also be used to provide for billing details for subscribers.
• Phone Menu: Dynamic IVR and menu systems have always been difficult and expensive to set up and customise. VIPS will provide the basic constructs to create a menu system or provide commonly used templates for further modification.
• Opening Times: This allows managers to specify the call actions to take place on a time sensitive basis.
