Assistant Researcher(s) in Autonomic Network Management (x3)
Commencement Date and Project Duration:
April 1st 2008, (2 years)
Minimum Qualification Required:
Must have, or be in the final stages of attaining, a PhD, in computing or telecommunications, or equivalent and research experience in Autonomic Network Management.
Major Duties:
As a Postdoctoral Researcher in Autonomic Network management at the TSSG the main technical role will be in the leading edge research in the new area of autonomic network management for the Future Internet. This will require skills in the modelling of operator requirements, communication service offerings and network capabilities.
This work will include the software development of a distributed management systems based on the paradigms of ‘design by contract’, ‘distributed interface oriented architecture’ and ‘policy based management’ and thus the candidate will need to have an understanding of software engineering, (UML and MDA), data networks and their configuration. The candidate will also have to demonstrate an ability to work autonomously in a research environment.
This role is part of a senior team within the group and the successful candidate will be required to gain a detailed understanding of autonomic network management for the Future Internet
.
The candidate should have good oral and written communication skills as this role will involve considerable inter-company collaboration. The candidate must display a readiness to take personal responsibility for issues that need to be resolved and act effectively within the scope of their own position to resolve them.
Responsibilities:
• Working closely with inter-company research teams from product/research conception through to final software release.
• Engage in research in the new area of autonomic network management for the Future Internet. .
• Develop domain expertise in modelling of operator requirements, communication service offerings and network capabilities.
• Perform systems upgrades or new technology deployments.
• Documenting all of the processes.
