Research Test Engineer
Minimum Requirements:
This role will report to the Lead Research Test Engineer/Technical Manager. Candidates must have a BSc/BEng in Computing or Telecommunications, or equivalent, and have at least 3 years software test experience.
Requirements:
- BS/MS in CS or equivalent.
- Experience working in a Test environment involving Integration, System and Regression Testing
- Excellent communication abilities to enable communication with development teams in the resolution of system defects.
- Experience working in a Unix/Linux environment.
- Some Knowledge of IP Networking protocols and systems
Major Duties:
The successful candidate will plan, design, develop and execute the Verification and Validation activities within assigned telecommunications based research projects.
The candidate will have to:
• Actively work to accomplish the following types of testing when required: Functional, Acceptance, Performance, Scalability and Installation Testing.
• Use technical specifications to design test specifications and procedures.
• Develop when needed software and scripts to automate test cases.
• Enhance their troubleshooting skills and ability to learn new technologies.
• Test software against test plans and technical specifications, investigate and report errors and defect tracking.
• Configure test environments and maintenance of test lab equipment.
• Manage testing functions and initiate process improvements within assigned research projects.
• Contribute towards project related documentation.
• Actively partake and contribute towards internal Testbed related initiatives.
• Contribute towards publications when required.( conferences, Journals, media reports)
• Willingness to travel.
The candidate should be able to work in a dynamic team environment and will be expected to display excellent time management, organisational skills.
The successful candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills for effective dialogue with colleagues on a project team and superiors.
Must continue to develop an appreciation of the wider field of technology outside their own specialization.
