Security Research Engineer

Minimum Requirements: BSc/BEng in computing or telecommunications, or equivalent.

Major Duties:
As a Security Research Engineer at the TSSG the main technical role will be involvement in the research, development, testing, integration and evaluation of a distributed security management system.

This includes working mainly on European research projects at different levels, both technical and project management, demonstrating experience dealing with threats and vulnerabilities of systems and efficiently co-coordinating activities of many European partners to ensure timely release of high quality deliverables. The candidate will also have to demonstrate an ability to work autonomously in a research environment.

The candidate should have good oral and written communication skills as this role will involve considerable inter-company collaboration. The candidate must display a readiness to take personal responsibility for issues that need to be resolved and act effectively within the scope of their own position to resolve them.

Responsibilities:
• Working closely with inter-company research teams from product/research conception through to final software release.
• Provide configuration, reporting, and technical support for security infrastructure equipment and software.
• Develop position papers and publication material suitable for the international Security, Trust, Dependability and Privacy research community.
• Perform systems upgrades or new technology deployments.
• Create test procedures and test plans.
• Process documentation and website maintenance.
• Organisation of technical workshops and events and liaison with many technical communities.

Requirements:
• BSc/BEng in computing or telecommunications, or equivalent.

Desirable:
• Understanding of the preparation, implementation and maintenance of telecommunications and IP infrastructure equipment.
• Knowledge of secure software development.
• Proven record of project management.
