Senior Software Engineer

Minimum Requirements: 4 years experience in the software industry as a software developer

We are developing an innovative Business to Business application comprising software components communicating with each other using web service standards. The software captures domain knowledge, performs some reasoning on that knowledge and presents the results to a business user. The project has challenging development objectives and timescales. Now that the project is taking off, we are looking for enthusiastic, experienced software engineers to join the team and help us to deliver.

Major Duties:
You will design and develop innovative large-scale web-enabled software systems. You must have a minimum of 4 years experience in the software industry as a software developer and will be able to demonstrate the following competencies:
• To apply standard development practices, particularly Object-Oriented Analysis and Design and Agile Software Development
• To develop software in languages such as Java and Ruby
• To take responsibility for delivery of work packages, with well-tested, maintainable and efficient code
• To be proactive in keeping up to date with current and future developments in software: development practices, languages, design philosophies, tools and applications

Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
• Recent experience of building and troubleshooting complex interdependent web services
• SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) design, development and deployment experience
• Experience of using QRA (Query, Reporting and Analysis) techniques to deliver analytical solutions to business clients
• Database design and implementation experience, particularly in a Business Intelligence environment
• A degree in a numerate subject
• Excellent communication skills
