Senior Operations Engineer(s)
Minimum Qualification Required: Leaving Certificate
You will work as a senior operations engineer on innovative and large-scale software systems. We are building very large scale systems that will consist of thousands of machines in multiple data centres, and we are looking for senior engineers with the know-how and experience to drive this effort.You must have systems operation experience; either as a systems administrator or as a software developer. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to:
• Explain and present technical subjects in everyday language - High-quality, concise documentation will be important in this role
• Anticipate and prepare for the known unknowns, and be ready for the unknown unknowns
• Take satisfaction from obsessive attention to detail
• Develop and configure systems that stay up 24/7
• Prepare, document and develop Service Level Agreements
• Work comfortably with a quality process and within a team
• Work with external partners in a professional manner
• Be expert in the installation, configuration and management of common operating systems
• Be competent in the administration of Solaris systems.
• Be competent in some or all of C, Java, Shell Scripting, Perl, Python, Ruby
• Be expert in the maintenance and operation of large-scale systems
• Be expert in modern networking systems and services
• Be able to describe and explain computer science concepts
• Preferably have active community involvement via participation in open source projects, blogging, or academic publications
• Preferably have a background in large scale Solaris installations
• Preferably have experience with load balanced application software and/or web services
• Preferably have experience in agile development
