Senior Java Software Engineer

Minimum Qualification Required:
A degree in computing or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years related experience

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Develop architecture and low level designs for IMS services.
• Perform the implementation of those designs.
• Design, develop and manage automated unit and acceptance tests.
• Participate in agile development program.
• Mentor junior staff members.
• Work with management to define new features/services.
• Work with quality assurance during release cycles.
• Bug Fixing.
• Peer review of design code and tests.
• Document any necessary processes or procedures.

Skills and Abilities Required:
• Excellent knowledge of Java.
• Product development and lifecycle experience.
• Understanding of software configuration and release management.
• Strong focus on refactoring and code quality.
• Ability to design for scalability and resilience.
• Understanding of design patterns.
• Knowledge of internet protocols.
• Worked with some/all of these (JSP, Servlets, Javascript, XML and HTTP).
• Experience working with databases, for example, MySQL or MSSql Server.
• Friendly manner with good communication skills, both written and oral.

Desirable:
• Experience working with J2EE technologies.
• Experience working in an agile environment.
• Knowledge of Ant, JUnit and Cruisecontrol.
• Experience working with Spring.
• Experience using SIP (Session Initiation Protocol).
• Experience with BEA Weblogic, SUN Glassfish and/or Oracle Communication and Mobility Server.
• Experience with IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) would be a plus.
