ASYST
Autonomic System for Network Management (ASYST) will take the SFI research carried out at the TSSG and develop an autonomic system.
Extended Description
The ASYST Autonomic Networking technology development will solve the enormous problems experienced by service providers in managing the delivery of video intensive applications over fixed networks. It does this by enabling the network to manage and repair itself in real-time, resulting in less failures, better throughput, and less human intervention.
The TSSG has undertaken basic research in the area of autonomics since November 2005. This research has been funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI). Autonomics is a new approach to network management where, instead of one centralised network management server, all of the network elements coordinate to self-manage. As a result of this research we now have sufficient algorithms and prototypes to undertake the development of a full autonomic application.
