Astral Senior Research Commercialisation Specialist (Part-Time)
Commencement Date and Project Duration:
September 15, 2009 for 2 years
Minimum Qualification Required:
• Masters degree in computing, engineering or telecommunications, or equivalent, and a minimum of 15 years experience in research and commercialisation, in the telecoms market.
• A strong network of international contacts in the Telecoms industry. These contacts should be at a senior-level where these contacts can influence decisions made within their company.
• Ability to develop additional contacts and create market opportunities.
• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and methodical approach.
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Travel (national and international).
Major Duties:
• Work with the Project Managers, Developers and others to understand the research currently under way.
• Investigate the needs of the market for the products and services developed. This should be primarily through face-to-face contacts with senior contacts in industry. From this industry feedback the Senior Research Commercialisation Specialist should help direct the direction of the research.
• Work with these industry contacts to develop interest in the products and services developed, leading to trials and market take-up of these products and services.
• Document and communicate updates on progress and activities.
• Support the Project manager in defining new products/services/technology roadmaps and new areas for research.
• Work with the Project Manager to write proposals for future funding.
• Reports to the Project Manager.
