FIDES’ research domain is the fast-evolving field of e-Finance. The group aims to conduct world class research in Financial Information Systems, promoting more scalable, secure and flexible ICT to meet the requirements of the financial services industry. The primary drivers for ICT evolution in finance are technologies enabling faster and more efficient business; globalisation of trade and investment supported by internet banking; regulatory changes to improve the stability of financial institutions e.g. BASEL II for banking and SOLVENCY II for insurance.
Research topics will include:
- Design and Standardisation of new protocols and information models for the interchange of financial data
- Frameworks for the evaluation of the suitability of ICT technologies for financial applications.
- Automated and semantically-aware mechanisms for the dynamic and static composition of financial services.
- Communications and Algorithmic innovations to improve the security, performance and scalability of financial systems.
- Automated mechanisms supporting regulatory compliance issues across the Financial Service value chain.
- Mechanisms supporting the trading of cloud-based ICT resources.
- Tools and techniques supporting the analysis of financial networks (in collaboration with DM&SN group).
- New ways of leveraging Mobility in Financial Services (advances in M-Banking).
