The Biologically-inspired research unit focuses on inter-disciplinary research, that applies biological mechanisms to various systems. Biological entities and systems allow living organisms to exhibit a high degree of adaptation to changes within an environment. These systems have evolved over thousands of centuries, leading to complex integrated processes within living organisms. These organisms are able to adapt both as individuals and groups in the face of environmental change (e.g. scarcity of food, change in weather conditions).
Thus, by looking at Biological entities and systems, we can apply a number of these biological mechanisms and processes for communication networks, infrastructure, smart grids and green systems of the future.
