Best Paper Award at CCNC 2012

Cristian Olariu, a TSSG PhD student working in the FAME strategic research cluster has won the best paper award at the prestigious 2012 IEEE Consumer Communications and Networking Conference (CCNC 2012), in Las Vegas, USA. The event, which is one of the IEEE Communications Society flagship conferences is co-located with the CES trade show and highlights research advances in entertainment and communications technologies. Cristian’s paper was selected as the best paper from 200 submissions from academic and industrial researchers worldwide.

The paper presents Cristian’s work on development and evaluation of a novel Quality-of-Service based call admission control and resource allocation scheme for LTE Femtocell deployment. The work was carried out with collaborators Prof. Liam Murphy and Dr Philip Perry from University College Dublin and Dr John Fitzpatrick from NEC Laboratories Europe, Heidelberg, Germany.
