Personal Summary

Following graduation in 1980 I worked in the telecommunications industry (eircom and it’s previous incarnations) until 2010.  Network planning, telecoms R&D and product management were my main areas of expertise and responsibility.  I developed strong links with main suppliers (Ericsson, Alcatel-Lucent) and academic institutes (WIT, TCD, DCU) so postgraduate research with TSSG was a logical progression.

Current Activities / Research Interests

My research centres on context awareness, sensor networks and nanotechnology in smart spaces from power-grids to embedded body networks.  In particular I am studying the powering of nansensor networks to process information in smart spaces using energy harvesting from ultrasound.
