Project Overview

VIPS delivered a prototype hosted PBX system based on the ASP model. It can be configured using an internet browser. Using Asterisk as the PBX engine the project enables users of the system access enterprise class features all at a relatively low monthly cost.

VIPS is a virtual private branch exchange system for IP telephony. Its designed to provide easy to manage PBX functionality to small-to-medium enterprises on a subscription basis.

Project Achievements


It provides usable control of the following areas for subscribed companies:

  • Staff/Extensions
  • Customised Dialling Rules
  • Meeting Rooms
  • Call Details/Billing
  • Follow Me

This proof of concept was developed within TSSG initially, in conjunction with an externally interviewed company for additional requirements gathering.

The project ran from February 2007 to March 2008.
